As part of the Physical Activity and Sports Studies (PASS) elective, Year 9 students and their teachers, Mrs Cugley, Mrs Thoms and Mr Murray, headed to the snow this week. The three-day camp, in the picturesque Snowy Mountains, was facilitated by Active Learning Initiative (ALI) at Jindabyne. The excursion enabled students to understand and experience first-hand the PASS course content, focusing on lifestyle, leisure and recreation, and the benefits of an active lifestyle.
Students enjoyed two days on the ski fields at Perisher, along with three two-hour skiing and snowboarding lessons run by Perisher Ski Instructors. They also participated in additional recreational skiing and snowboarding, overseen by ALI and SGCS staff. Our group spent two comfortable nights at the Bungarra Alpine Centre at Jindabyne, and enjoyed delicious hot meals and group activities together in the evenings.
The camp provided students with the opportunity to build their skills on the snow whilst embracing the joy and adventure of an active lifestyle.
