Year 10 and 11 Visual Arts students recently attended a three day residency excursion at Bundanon, on the picturesque New South Wales south coast. Students immersed themselves in the wonders of nature and art at the Homestead and participated in their own art making opportunities onsite.
Bundanon’s Art Museum offered students an opportunity to participate in various activities including the program, Biophilia: In the Field. This program allowed the young artists to work outside, responding to the diversity in ecologies, plant communities and landforms. Working outside, surrounded by the beauty of the natural world, encouraged the students to experience a deeper connection to their creativity and invited broader ecological thinking. The students were encouraged to experience art as a whole-body action. Through the exercises, they discovered the way artists are able to capture and preserve a moment in time with their art.
