Infants Book Character Parade

A love of books has many benefits and brings lifelong joy. Reading improves concentration and memory. It teaches the reader about the world and provides a window to other places, people and times. As we read, our critical thinking is activated, and comprehension skills and analytical thinking are boosted. Books are an endless source of fun, learning and adventure.

Our Infants children embraced their love of books at last week’s Infants Book Character Day. It was a delight to watch them arrive at school in full costume, dressed as their favourite story book character. The costumes were indeed works of art. Our parent community did an exceptional job in helping to design and make the elaborate costumes, with some displaying clever ways to reimagine household objects.

The children spent the morning writing about their special characters and posing for photographs. Parents joined in the fun at midday and were invited to enjoy lunch together while watching the colourful parade. Each class paraded and judges had a difficult time choosing the Fantastic Boy Costume, Fantastic Girl Costume and the Highly Commended prizes. Our Principal, Mr Honor, announced the winners and the children received a book and a lucky dip prize. The students’ siblings and some adventurous parents then had the opportunity to parade, and the winner also received a book prize.

Thank you to our wonderful students, parents and families, and staff for making Infants Book Character Day such a memorable event.
